EduBuddy started in February 2026 as a Semester 2 capstone project for five Bachelor's Computer Science students at IIT Patna. The brief was straightforward. The ambition was not.
Halfway through planning, we asked ourselves a question we couldn't stop thinking about: why do so many students study hard and still walk into exams underprepared? Not because they didn't work — but because no tool ever told them where they stood, what gaps remained, or exactly what to do next.
We scrapped the minimal viable submission and decided to build the real thing: a production-grade platform that takes a student's performance data, forecasts their exam outcome with machine-learning precision, and generates the roadmap they need to hit their target score. Not an assignment. A product.
From classroom idea
to live platform.
The Inception
Five CS students. One ambitious brief. And the realization that the problem was far bigger than the assignment.
We spent the first weeks not writing code, but asking harder questions. What data actually predicts exam success? How does a personalized roadmap differ from a study schedule? The Python AI models and training datasets we designed in this phase became EduBuddy's core intelligence layer.
The Assessment Engine Goes Live
The platform's defining feature ships: a structured quiz that profiles a student's knowledge state across subjects, generates a predicted exam score, and delivers a prioritized improvement roadmap.
Students get their first AI-forecasted outcome. For the first time, "I don't know where I stand" stops being an acceptable answer. The goal was never to replace studying — it was to make every hour of studying count.
